Blending Generative AI & 3D Motion Graphics for a High-Converting Commercial

The Brief & Scope
AMPD approached our European AI video agency with a rigid, time-sensitive challenge. They needed a highly engaging, 30-second commercial that seamlessly merged a realistic live-action feel with premium 3D motion graphics.
To meet their fast-paced launch schedule, we narrowed the scope to four critical pillars:
- Format: A ~30-second top-of-funnel promotional video.
- Base Footage: Two distinct environments (an office setting with a B2B professional, and a cozy home setting with a B2C consumer) using either high-end stock or AI-generated video.
- UI Integration: Crisp, animated user interface overlays (map pins, app icons, and dynamic pointers) tracked flawlessly onto the base footage.
- Deadline: A non-negotiable 4-week turnaround.
Case overview
- Research & Strategy – We uncover the brand's core values, audience needs, and market opportunities to create a strong foundation.
- Creative Identity – From logos to visual systems, we design identities that are cohesive, timeless, and aligned with business goals.
- Brand Guidelines – We equip the team with clear standards for tone, visuals, and messaging so the brand stays consistent everywhere.
Transparent Pricing & Workflows
We believe in total budget transparency. Upon reviewing the brief, we offered the client two distinct production pathways:
Option A: The Agile Approach (Adapted Graphics)
Utilising premium AI footage or stock, combined with customised professional motion graphic templates. We adapt the brand colours and UI movements to fit the narrative.

Investment: ~€2,300 | Delivery: 2 Weeks
Option B: The Premium Approach (Bespoke 3D)
Developing exclusive, fully custom 3D animations and motion graphics engineered from scratch for this specific campaign.

The client opted for the premium, fully custom 3D route to ensure maximum brand impact.
The Creative Pivot: Rejecting Stock for AI
During our strategy sessions, the creative direction evolved. AMPD needed absolute control over the visual contrast between the B2B marketer and the B2C shopper.
Initially, to protect the budget, we suggested sourcing premium stock footage and applying our UI composites over it. However, the client demanded highly specific framing, character aesthetics, and locations that stock libraries simply couldn't provide. The decision was unanimous: we would build the entire base reality from scratch using generative AI.
Phase 1: Abstract 3D Concepting
How do you visualize a user navigating choices across multiple retail platforms without resorting to a boring screencast?
After testing several visual metaphors, our 3D department engineered a deep, abstract spatial environment. We designed a sleek, grid-based floor that dramatically broke its own linear perspective, transforming into a "chaotic staircase" of floating geometric blocks. A dynamic line traversed this space, connecting various retail icons, perfectly illustrating the product’s complex value proposition.
Phase 2: "AI Casting" & Look Development
While the 3D team built the digital architecture, our AI specialists began crafting the human elements.
To avoid burning hours on blind prompt engineering, we relied on traditional filmmaking techniques. We built moodboards on Pinterest to align with the client on styling, vibe, and colour grading. Once the aesthetic was locked, we presented an "AI Casting Sheet." This allowed the client to choose their preferred synthetic actors and location variants, along with AI-generated voiceover profiles tailored to the brand's tone.
Phase 3: The Reality of AI Video (Overcoming Limitations)
The raw AI generations looked stunning, but as any professional video creation agency knows, AI is not a magic button. Achieving broadcast-level polish required extensive manual intervention by our VFX artists.
We encountered two major micro-challenges:
Clutter & Inpainting: The initial AI generation of the B2B office was too busy. Random objects (like distorted folders and an oddly placed mug) distracted from the main subject. We had to isolate, regenerate, and meticulously clean up the scene.
Tracking & Compositing: In the B2C scene, the synthetic actress's finger movements did not naturally align with the animated UI we needed to overlay. We had to iterate the motion generation until her tap perfectly matched the bottom of the screen.
We deliberately separated the AI base generation from the 3D UI overlays. Prompting an AI tool to generate a precise software interface inside a smartphone screen results in severe visual artefacts. Human-led compositing is still the absolute gold standard for complex commercial work.
Phase 4: Audio Branding & Sound Design
A visually flawless video feels completely lifeless without the right audio. We brought in a dedicated Sound Designer to build a bespoke sonic profile.
We layered subtle Foley and SFX—kinetic whooshes for the camera sweeps, satisfying UI clicks, and atmospheric depth. We selected a "High-Tech / Electronic" audio mood to ensure the soundscape perfectly complemented the cold, digital visuals, avoiding any jarring acoustic mismatches.
The Results
We delivered a premium mixed-media commercial—on time and strictly on budget. By merging our cutting-edge AI video production capabilities with traditional VFX and 3D motion graphics, we accomplished in 4 weeks what typically takes traditional studios several months.
